Another month has come and gone, taking us into the THIRD MONTH OF THE YEAR. Crazy, right?
I used to try and do monthly favorites every month because a) I like to read them and see what works for other people and b) I like to share my favorites so you guys can try them out! But I got a little behind… but I am happy to be back and report on a few of my favorite things! So if you’re interested in what I loved this past month, just keep on reading!
Catrice Liquid Camouflage Concealer ($5.99)
I am embarrassed to say I can spend hours watching beauty videos on YouTube. For months the YouTuber, Tati (GlamLifeGuru) has been raving about this stuff and for some reason I haven’t tried it until now. With over 3 million subscribers, she knows what she’s talking about. But for some reason, I never got it. But then I saw it at Ulta and decided to just go for it! I got the shade Porcelain because that was the only color they had, but it ended up being a perfect match for me. Unfortunately, this particular concealer only comes in 3 shades which is ridiculous. I hate to recommend something that only has light shades and not even a big variety, but if you’re very pale like me, concealer can be hard to find so for my light skin babes, check this out! What I thought was cool about this was that when I put it on like usual (I usually apply it to the under eyes, bridge of nose, forehead, and problem areas then wait a little bit) it started to oxidize to the exact shade of my skin. I don’t know if I got lucky and this just works for me or if it does that for all light skin types but I love it. I then blend it in with a barley-damp beauty sponge and really press it into the skin. Don’t use a really damp sponge though because it will not blend and will cake up (I speak from experience). This concealer is marketed as waterproof and I can attest to that.
Buy it at Ulta, Amazon, and the Catrice website
L’Oreal Paris True Match LUMI Glotion ($11-14)
I feel like the drugstore has really been upping their game when it comes to cosmetics. L’Oreal is one of my favorite brands in the drugstore and even sometimes more than high end. If any of you live in Paris, I am very jealous that you have stores dedicated to L’Oreal… I would be in heaven. Anyway, L’Oreal just came out with a ton of new stuff and us here in the US got a few of the products they released, including this Glotion. I got this when it first came out but then I lost it (#messygirlproblems) so never got to try it. This month, I found it (it was in the wrong drawer) and fell in love. I like to use this as a primer mixed with the MAC Strobe Cream. It gives a beautiful dewy finish and you can wear it alone or under foundation or mixed in… the options are endless! I love they came out with 4 shades and not just one universal shade. You can get it in fair, light, medium, and deep. I have the shade Fair and it works great for my light skin but I’ve heard that the shade Light is significantly darker than Fair, so it seems like there might be a shade for everyone. I think this will be an essential of mine this spring and summer (and fall and winter) especially because I have dry skin and this makes it feel and look more hydrated.
You can find this at Target, Ulta, Walmart, and any store that carries L’Oreal products.
Cat Ears Headband ($5.00)
I couldn’t not mention this because it has been my everything since I got it. I found this on the website Hush when I did a little review on some of their products. I saw this and had to get it. It is a known fact I love cats (duh, this page has the word “cat” in it) so I decided to get it to keep my hair back to wash my face, do my makeup, when I do face masks, etc and I will never go back. If you like cats or you know someone who loves cats this is adorable. It’s machine washable and makes life a lot easier. You can also get it on the Ulta website where they also have a black cat, a unicorn/cat, and a bear one. I will be stocking up, I suggest you do the same!
You can get it on Hush ($5) or Ulta ($6-9)
Colourpop Here Kitty Kitty Pressed Powder Highlighter ($7-8.00)
Another cat product because everyone knows anything named after a cat will be great. Even if you’re not a cat lover I’m very confident that you will like this highlighter. I will admit the only reason I originally bought this was because of the name… I am a sucker for packaging. But when I got it I was so pleasantly surprised. This highlighter is bright and blinding without being glittery. I personally really don’t like glitter in highlighter unless its very finely milled because I don’t like looking like Edward Cullen when I walk outside (which is never but still). This highlighter is perfect if you wanna look dewy and glowy without looking sparkly. It can look like a natural highlight but is also really buildable so it can be worn during the day or at night (very versatile). I think this would work with and flatter a lot of different skin tones and look stunning. It’s not to dark for light skin tones but not to light for medium skin tones. I also think the price of this is awesome and you don’t have much to lose by trying this out… so even if you hate it you can give it to a family member or friend and you don’t have an empty wallet. As of right now I think you can only buy this on the Colourpop website.
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream ($30.00)
Have I mentioned I have dry skin? Yes, I talk about it more than I probably should. The past few months have killed my skin. I am willing to try everything to make my skin soft and not irritated. I decided to try this out because I’m a big fan of their lip balm and it is an Allure Best of Beauty winner. It is a bit pricey but you get a lot (6.0 oz) and I’m willing to pay if it’ll help my skin. I will need a few more weeks to really be repaired but so far I’m loving this. It kind of reminds me of cold cream as far as consistency and color, but if it’s good enough for Marilyn, it’s good enough for me. I put this on at night before bed and let it sink in and my face feels so smooth and soft in the morning. I recommend trying this out if you have really dry skin! You can use it for face and body so if you’re dry anywhere else and are looking for a cure, check this out at Ulta!
Dr. Brandt Pores No More Lumanizer Primer ($38.00)
I got this primer in last month’s (January) Boxycharm box. I didn’t get to really try it in January because I got that horrible flu that is killing people here in America and was really sick for most of the month. But now I am recovered and feeling good and trying out these new products! I really didn’t think I’d like this at first. I use primers but I never really got them until this one. First of all, this primer smells really good, almost like roses and feels really nice on the skin. It feels a little tacky after it’s applied, but I actually like that because it seems to make my makeup last longer. I also have really large pores on my right cheek and this primer really fills them in and blurs them without having a silicone feel like other pore-filling primers. The price on this kills me though, because it is a pricey primer. But now that I’ve gotten a very very discounted one and I’ve been able to try it without thinking about the price, I will defiantly be repurchasing this. If you’re on the fence about getting it, I say do it! I think it’s really good and I rarely will find a product I love so much that I’ll repurchase again. Usually I will use a product up and then try something new, but this one doesn’t make me want to try something else!
You can buy this at Ulta and Sephora
Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation ($14.95)
Physicians Formula has been coming out with a lot of new products lately and I’ve loved every one I’ve tried, including this one. Like I said, I watch a lot of YouTube videos on beauty and a lot of influencers were trying this one out and seemed to like it. But they also have their favorite foundations and go back to them so it’s hard to tell if they like it as a first impression or if they liked it in the long run. I picked this up at CVS in the shade LC1 (yes that’s the lightest shade) and decided to give it a try. This foundation has an SPF of 20 and is marked as a foundation for all skin types. It comes in 16 shades with cool, warm, and neutral undertones so it’s easier to match to you. The shades vary from LC1-DN4, so while the shade range doesn’t compare to Fenty Beauty, it seems like there is a good variety. I didn’t find that the foundation oxidized on me which is what I was worried about because there was no shade lighter than the one I got. This foundation has a really pretty semi-dewy finish and is a medium coverage. What I like about it is that it doesn’t look like foundation on your face, it looks like skin. It is very buildable so you can build it up if you like a more coverage foundation, but you can also get a light coverage as well. I like to blend it in with one of those toothbrush looking brushes and then blending with a damp beauty sponge if I notice any streaks from the brush. I also love the packaging, it looks a lot like a Dior foundation so it looks nice on a vanity! The only thing I don’t like is that it is a doe foot applicator. Besides that, I love it and will be repurchasing so an everyday foundation.
I hope you all had a wonderful February! What was your favorite February product? Have you or will you try any of my monthly favorites? Let me know in the comments below!
